Taggart Automotive Repiar - Quality Repairs ar a Fair Price

A/C Air Conditioner Service

Having an ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONER during the dog days of summer in St. Louis are a must. Taggart and Sons Automotive has the equipment necessary to identify leaks in the air conditioner system, make repairs to the compressor, hoses and rediator, and recharge the air conditioner system with refrigerant.

Taggart & Sons can check the following on your Air Conditioner system
  • visually inspect the air conditioning compressor drive belt for cracks or damage
  • visually inspect accessible components for leaks or damage
  • check the operation of the air conditioning compressor and other air conditioning components
  • Test in-car temperature at outlets.
  • evacuate refrigerant from the system
  • vacuum test the system
  • recharge the air conditioning system using the appropriate refrigerant to the system capacity according to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications

Eco-Friendly Advances
Most air conditioning systems are now equipped with a new more environmentally friendly coolant called R1 34a. This new coolant can be used in most older cars that were originally built with R12 Freon, provided that a retrofit service is performed on the vehicle. Once retrofitted, you will be able to have you're A/C system maintained for many years to come.

Serpentine Belt Replacement
Sometimes the problem is not directly with the Air Conditioner unit, but with the belt that turns the compressor, which is called the serpentine belt. The serpentine belt transfers power from the engine to operate various engine components, including the alternator, water pump, power steering pump and the air conditioner compressor.

How the Air Conditioner system works
Below is a diagram of how an air conditioner system works. As always we want to educate our customers any chance we get.

Defrost Quickly and Briskly
To defrost your windows more quickly, turn on the air conditioner and keep your temperature gauge turned to warm. The air conditioner will pull moisture out of the air and expedite the defrosting process.

Under Extreme Pressure

Do-it yourself Air Conditioner recharging can be very dangerous
If you are thinking of recharging your air conditioner system yourself, BE CAREFUL. The system is under extreme pressure and could harm your car and even more important yourself. It's not worth getting injured, our prices are fair and we can get it done quick.
